Welcome to Musselburgh and District Athletic Club

We welcome athletes of all abilities from ages 8 and upwards. We have a number of qualified coaches and run both junior and senior sections.

We enter senior teams in cross country events and juniors in a range of summer and winter leagues.  Organised events range from fun to serious, providing something for everyone. If you’d just like to join us to keep fit or go out for a nice jog with a friendly group then please feel free to come along.

Within this site you can enter the Musselburgh 10K, get the latest news at the club, review our training schedules, learn about upcoming events, find out more information about the club and so much more.  If you have any questions we would love to hear from you.

Tollcross Parkrun

I was at a loose end this Saturday as Mary was working so decided to take in a new Scottish Parkrun at Tollcross park in the east end of Glasgow so there was only one travelling Pattison this week.  A lovely park it was too with a nice bunch of people to chat too before and after the race, they are always appreciative when someone makes an effort to run ‘their’ Parkrun.  The 5K run was a lot tougher than Edinburgh Parkrun with 10 hills included but I still managed a respectable time of 22.06 minutes after having a duel with another runner for almost the whole run.  I finished in 10th place overall which is my highest ever placing at a Parkrun and also 1st in my age category so I had to be pleased with that and even more pleased with the home baking provided afterwards.  I even got the best of the weather it seems as it was dull but mild unlike Edinburgh which was being flooded out, the only downside was the midges in the park.

The club is always on the lookout for volunteers for a range of duties. If you are interested in helping out in any way then please contact a member of the committee for more information.

We are always looking out for people to help with the junior section of the club. You do not need any experience in athletics coaching (although if you have some then that’s a bonus) or a need to be athletic yourself. If you enjoy it, training courses are available in various areas. If you volunteer there is no obligation to help every week, its completely up to you how much time you give.

We are also interested to hear from people who are keen to get involved in the Committee. There are various opportunities to help out on the Committee (you don’t have to be a runner or a coach). Parents of junior members are welcome and indeed encouraged to get involved in the Committee.
